Shiba Inu Shibarium Prepares for Major Hard Fork After Completing Security Upgrade

The Shiba Inu development team has just completed the deployment of an urgent security upgrade to the Shibarium bridge, marking an important step in optimizing and preparing for major changes in the ecosystem. The update comes ahead of the upcoming hard fork, aiming to improve the performance and scalability of the network.

Shibarium Prepares for Major Hard Fork After Completing Security Upgrade

On November 30, Shiba Inu ecosystem developer Kaal Dhairya confirmed the completion of a major maintenance of the Shibarium bridge. The upgrade temporarily put the bridge into maintenance mode to address security issues and prepare for upcoming major changes. Dhairya also assured users that their assets remained completely safe during the maintenance.

The Shibarium bridge enables secure and seamless token transfers between the Ethereum network and Shibarium. During the maintenance period, token burning was paused, but the amount of burned tokens continued to accumulate in the background. After the security upgrade was completed, the bridge returned to normal operation.

Dhairya also confirmed that while the bridge was operating stably, the burn contract upgrade continued to be deployed. These improvements will be implemented throughout the weekend and in the coming days.

Upcoming Major Hard Fork

This update comes as Shibarium, Shiba Inu’s Layer-2 blockchain solution, prepares for a major hard fork early next week. The hard fork will optimize network performance, improve transaction speeds, and address scalability issues. These improvements are expected to lay a solid foundation for Shibarium’s sustainable development, ensuring it can handle growing demand while maintaining efficiency.

What is the Hard Fork Designed to Achieve for Shiba Inu

A hard fork is a major protocol upgrade that introduces new features, fixes performance bottlenecks, and improves overall functionality. For Shiba Inu’s Layer-2 network, the upcoming hard fork is specifically designed to increase throughput and improve the overall processing capacity of the network.

Since its launch last year, Shibarium has achieved significant results. The network has processed nearly 600 million transactions, with the 500 million transaction milestone recorded earlier this month. Around 2 million blockchain addresses have interacted with Shibarium, and the network has successfully processed over 8 million blocks.

With these achievements, the upcoming upgrade marks a strategic milestone in Shiba Inu’s development journey, reflecting the ecosystem’s commitment to innovation and network optimization. These technical improvements will expand Shibarium’s capabilities in the blockchain space, further affirming the platform’s position in the crypto industry.
