REPORT LOVE AT SCHOOL WORKSHOP
Time: 6h30-8h30 pm, Thursday 19/7/2012
Place: SmartLink English Center, No 3, Lane 196 Thai Thinh
First of all, we started with a warm-up game. Everyone was divided into 2 teams. One would draw 3 pictures and another team had to guess the term that the drawings refered to.
Then we continued with a small talk about love and members’ experience. It is amazing that most of them are single, as they said.
Everyone listened to a very cute love story of a man when he was at kindergarten. It was called “the candy love”.
To begin the debate part, we were introduced British debate format. It was so complicated that everyone got confused at first. However, as the debate was going on, everyone gradually understood the format.
Each group prepared for the debate. They gave as many ideas as they could, then chose the best four ideas and five representatives for their team.
It’s debate time! The question was ‘should children be encouraged to have a boyfriend/girlfriend when they were at high school and junior high school?’. There were many persuasive ideas and the debate between 2 teams were quite interesting.
At the end, team FOR won with more votes for them than for team AGAINST.
Before leaving, the difference between “Lover” and “boyfriend/girlfriend” was given to help everyone have a good word choice.
